Not all members of staff wear the same size shoe, so why should they all fit the same height desk? A British standard height desk is 72.5cm (to fit through a door frame) and will generally suit persons between 165cm - 175cm in height. For anyone else, the height of the desk will need re-adjusting.
A low cost solution for a single user are desk raisers built to the optimum height - simple but effective ergonomics.
A more advanced solution is to use electric height adjustable desks, which have become much more affordable. Great for hot-desking, wheelchair users or multiple user scenarios, they also offer the advantage of facilitating movement and variability in posture, to relieve existing back pain and prevent further episodes occurring. Sit Stand desks (where the user can alternate between seated & standing postures) are very popular in Scandanavia and could benefit the British worker too, as an increasing number of research studies are now reporting.
We specify & supply across the entire ConSet range of electric desking: an almost endless assortment of shapes, sizes & colours, which represent surprisingly good value for money. Frame capacities range from 70kg to 200kg, depending on types of task being undertaken.
